Navigating the MT5 Interface

Table of content

MetaTrader 5 is a comprehensive platform with many features. In this article, we will explain what kind of features the platform has and how you can use them. After downloading MT5, you can quickly start using it with your account.

You can do almost everything from the ''View'' menu. From this menu, head over to the Market Watch to see all the offered products. When you see the products, just drag them and drop them on the screen to see the charts for the currency pair you want to see.

It is also possible to change your time zone from the Language part as well. You can use this feature whenever you want.

    Data Window

The Data Window section shows details about the charts. The section below the products shows the details of the charts.

Clicking on the Crosshair button (second button from the left on the top menu), or using the ''CTRL+F'' shortcut will display the details of the candlestick you have selected. You can see the high, low, opening price, and the time of this candlestick.

    Navigator

In the Navigator section, you can find account details, indicators, experts, MetaMarket, and items available for purchase.

    Toolbox

Toolbox is a very detailed section that shows you:

    • Your account information
    • Available funds
    • Past transactions
    • Emails
    • Economic calendar data
    • Items available for purchase
    • Articles
    • Expert operations
    • Your journal

    Toolbars

In the Toolbars section, you will see three options, such as Standard, Line Studies, and Timeframes.

The Standard toolbar lets users enlarge, reduce, and change the color of the chart. You can open a new transaction and enter the new transaction command here.

Line Studies can be used to draw on the chart to determine support and resistance levels.

Timeframes refer to the time constraints. If you click on it, you can see new timeframes added to the toolbar. You can work in the desired time zone and change it whenever you want from here.

    Help

Help is also one of the most important titles. After you click on ''Help'' then ''Help Topics'', you can access the details about MetaTrader that appear one by one. Here it is possible to see all the details such as how to open a transaction and how to make a calculation.

    Chat

There is also a ''Chat'' section, in which the user can create an account with his own account and join this community. It is possible to buy robots or signals from this section.

    Reports

The Reports section allows you to comment on positions from this section. It is basically the graphical version to see how many positions are open and how much money is held here.

    Depth of Market

In this section, it is possible to see how many buyers and sellers there are at which price. However, it is not very accurate in the FX market. Although this option is not commonly used in the FX market, still it is good to know an option exists such as this.

    More on the View Section

There are a couple of details in the ''View'' menu that are worth mentioning. You can see the connection status at the bottom of the status bar. Another one is the ''Charts Bar'' section, which shows the charts open on the screen. You can switch between the charts or close them if you don't want them to be seen. Clicking on the ''Arrange windows'' button or simply using the Alt+R shortcut, you can put all the charts on the screen in order.

    In a Nutshell

Navigating MetaTrader 5 is straightforward once you understand its key features. From viewing market data and using the Navigator for account details to managing trades with the Toolbox, MT5 offers a range of tools for efficient trading. Customizing charts, using timeframes, and accessing help resources further enhance your trading experience.
